Hi folks! I have the distinct honor of introducing the Joomla! Communications Team. Louis Landry is our Joomla! Core Team coordinator, but currently Alex Kempkens is helping facilitate the group activities.

For the past nine months, or so, Ron Severdia and I have worked along side Louis on the Communications Team, helping to write front page announcements, Joomla! Day and release announcements, get the blogs firing on Developer.joomla.org and on Community.joomla.org, amongst other duties as assigned. Very recently, we have added a new team member and shifted responsibilities. And so, it seemed a good time to finally introduce ourselves and to start gathering your input and ideas.

Many of you know Ron Severdia, a long-term community member and Joomla! Forum Moderator. He is the man behind the Joomla! Shakespeare Web site and the designer responsible for our fabulous, new Joomla.org Web design. Within the team, Ron is primarily responsible for the front page announcements, release announcements, and continuing the renovation of the Joomla.org family of Web sites in partnership with the Infrastructure Team.

You real old-timers know our newest team member by his eclectic geek name, Spacemonkey, and his wild and mysterious ways. We are so pleased that Mitch Pirtle, former Joomla! Core Team member, Joomla! founder, OSM Board Member and founder has found his way home. Actually, Mitch never left us but now he has duties and deadlines, again. Mitch has primary responsibility over press releases and media outreach.

I am Amy Stephen and have been around Joomla! for nearly three years. I help out in the forums, with GHOP and GSoC, on the Bug Squad, and with this team. I am responsible for the Joomla! Community Magazine, soliciting writers, and keeping a pulse on what's happening within the community. Where Mitch's focus is outward, mine is inward. I am also charged with helping with the Joomla! org family of blogs and hope to continue helping people connect better with the Joomla! project.

Here, in the Communications Team blog, we will try to share with you some of our plans and ideas. We invite you to share any ideas you have on how we might work together to help improve communication.
