Every now and then, the moderator group takes a look at the current format of the forums and checks if it needs tweaking and tuning. In the last round of changes, we opened up the Joomla! 1.5 forums to give them a more prominent space when opening the forums. After all, the main function of the forum is support.

In a new round of changes, a few forums will disappear and others will be created. The Tips & Tricks forum will be removed. The wiki at the documentation site is an ideal place to store tutorials/tips/tricks. A few people like Erdsiger have moved lots of information to the wiki already. We also had a forum which function was supporting people new in developing extensions for Joomla!. This worked out really well when starting, however in the past months it became just another support forum for 1.5 development. Another forum that's going to be archived is the Non-profits forums. The reason for this is that most of the topics in these forums are not specific to not-for-profit organizations but basic support questions.

The forums will not be removed, they are archived so people can still read them. The Lounge forum has a subforum called 'Archived Boards', which holds all archived boards.

We have now created a forum which is meant for Search Engine Optimization. it can be found in the 1.5 support forums and can have topics dealing with general SEO for Joomla! 1.5 sites, or topics about the extensions that deal with SEO.

If people have good ideas for the forum, maybe to create a new forum or make an adjustment to an existing forum, just post a thread here and we'll look at it. We can't promise anything, but feedback is always welcome.
