Well, you may not actually believe it, but I am not a fan of "social networking" despite my far too many posts on the Joomla forum and far too many hours contributing to the Joomla project. So, when pressure started to be put on me to join Twitter (Amy!) I resisted.. and resisted.. until finally Andrew convinced me to at least try it out.

Well, a few weeks on.. I am still 'testing' but it's been interesting. If I could sum up what Twitter is for me, it's a cross between blog, forum and instant messaging. Twitter also makes it easier to keep up with a larger circle of people and not be overwhelmed with information which I find the hardest thing these days with the Joomla Community being so large.

So, what about Twitter and the Joomla Community then?

You will find many of the people active in the Joomla Community, either here on this site of the forums are also active on Twitter, but you will also come across people that are not as active here, and yet are on Twitter. It's like Twitter has already helped the community expand.

This feed is also interesting:  #joomla I gave up subscribing to the RSS feed as it was far too active for me. It does show though, how much 'Joomla Chatter' there is on Twitter though.

Andrew recently suggested we start to list our Twitter usernames on our forum profiles, which a few of us have now done. So, in conclusion, there appears to be a huge Joomla Community on Twitter now. It's being used to offer user to user support, as well as spread other kinds of useful information. Will I stick around on Twitter? Time will tell....

So, if you're interested in becoming a "Joomla Twit" you know where to find us.

In the meantime, I'm back hard at work on the relaunch of my own personal Joomla Tutorials site.
