Nominations for the Packt Open Source CMS Awards started last week. You can nominate Joomla! as Best PHP Open Source CMS. A new feature this year is that five extensions and five templates will be nominated for awards. Packt asked the projects to come up with the nominations, which the public will then get to vote on. The timeframe is relatively short, so choosing among the thousands of great extensions and templates will be almost impossible. Various teams within the project worked together to come up with this way to approach picking just 5 each.
Proposed nominees should be submitted by the devloper or firm, not by fans. Each firm or individual is allowed to propose a single template, a sinlge extension or one of each.
Nominated extensions must be listed in the JED (that way we know they install and don't have obvious security issues). They must have had a release during the past 12 months. They must run in Joomla 1.5 Native.
Nominate templates must be distributed not custom made for a single site. A copy of the template installed on a website that the team can view. They must have been released during the past 12 months.
Both commercial and non commercial proposed nominees are allowed. Additional requirements are explained in the forms.
Nominatiation must be received by Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 00:00:00 UTC time.
We are going to experiment with using Google Forms for submitting nominations. Please be patient as we work through any kinks.
