Happy Birthday to docs.joomla.org! ; I almost didn't notice, but our wiki-based documentation site passed its first birthday on 29 December 2008.

In that first year we have gone from nothing to over 800 pages of information on the wiki.  Although we have more than 7,000 users registered with authenticated email addresses now, I would particularly like to thank the 429 individuals who have contributed at least one edit.  All contributions, great and small, are important.  Even correcting a single typo or other error in the documentation is a valued contribution and I would encourage everyone to not be afraid to fix or improve things as they find them.

As expected, most of the edits were done by a small number of people.  Excluding the 1,600+ spam accounts that were created, all the edits were made by just 6% of those who registered with valid email addresses!

Of the 429 people who made at least one edit, the top 4 were responsible for just over half of all the edits.  In other words, 1% of the users did 50% of the edits.  I was actually rather surprised by this.  I was expecting something a lot closer to a Pareto-like 80% of edits being done by 20% of the users.

I'll leave you with a little bar chart which shows the number of edits per user for the top 50 users on the wiki up to 1 January 2009.

I look forward to acknowledging even more contributions in the coming year.
