Community Portal Hello everyone,
Social Networking sites have been the talk of the town lately.People from all walks of life and of all age groups are members at such sits and are enjoying networking with their kith and kin.But what do team mates of an IT company do to share an idea or two privately. For sure they cant be using social networking sites. They, amongst many other people would want to have their own space in a site where they could carry out interactions dynamically and "on the fly". I introduce the group co-ordinating component in Joomla! which will bring a great deal of change with the way users interact. Any group of people having a common area of interest can make a group and interact amongst themselves.With this component in place, creating a new group will become as simple as adding a new article. I am aiming at making it user friendly and easy to use!
The basic features of this component would be, creating a group, managing users(add, delete, edit), creating multiple categories under one section, writing articles, forum posts etc.
Some of the attractive and distinct features are:
Privacy settings(private or public view)
Different user roles(group owner, moderator, manager etc)
Administrator approval for addition of new user
A group home page with group theme and settings
A mass mail module.
Its been two weeks of fun developing this component and here is my progress so far:
Development is primarily at the backend,as of now we can,
- Add new groups.
- Dsiplay Groups list and details
- Add users to the groups.
- Display Users list and details
It is however, still limited in terms of functionality,but not for long.
