Events
Around the world Joomla users come together in person. A variety of events are organized by the Joomla! community and supported by the Joomla! Project. Joomla! Days are a way for local communities to organize a special event about Joomla. The Joomla team members and local community members also attend Expos and conferences around the world.
Joomla! Developer Conference
The first ever Joomla! Developer Conference will be on December 5 and 6 in New York City. Joomla developers who distribute extensions, build custom solutions or develop in house will learn about 1.6 development and learn from each other and core developers. Among those presenting will be Louis Landry, Andrew Eddie, Ian Mclennnon, Hannes Papenburg and Aaron Newton (from the Mootools team). Registration for the conference is now open.
The conference will take place at Faculty House at Columbia University. Tickets will be $100 and seats are limited. Plans are to stream and record the presentations, please watch for more details on how to access the stream.
In addition to access control lists, nested categories, comments and a new forms library Joomla 1.6 features an MVC administrator and removes support for 1.0 legacy functions and PHP below 5.2. The conference will give third party developers the information they need to make the transition smoothly and to access the power offered by these new features.
