The Joomla! User Group Toronto will be holding it's next informal pub night on Wednesday July 15, 2009, at 7pm. We'll be meeting at Hemingway's in Yorkville.

The June Pub Night took was held on the 17th at the Frog and Firkin. We had fewer members than initially expected, probably due to the rainy weather, but it was still fun and productive! We thank all who braved the rain and wind from as far as Stouffville to participate on last night’s event.

Andrew Eddie has been hard at building Joomla 1.6 and this is going to be the focus of our meeting. Andrew is really busy, so this will be an informal presentation, but we'll put some effort into placing 1.6 into a context about where Joomla is headed. There's lots of great stuff to look forward to!

I am extremely happy to announce that the Sydney User Group has clubbed together and pledged $1,170 to sponsor Andrew Eddie in developing J1.6. That's two days' coding work...imagine what will sprout from that!

The Joomla! User Group Toronto will be holding it's next informal pub night on Wednesday June 17, 2009, at 7pm. We'll be meeting at the Frog and Firkin in North York. The hope is to make it easier for people in the North end of the GTA to get in, as the pub is just North of the 401 at Yonge and Sheppard.
There's good parking behind the pub, excellent subway access, and a claim of wireless.

Video case study of Century Yuassa Batteries use of Joomla for their intranet, presented by their internal Joomla developer Penny Shaw. Penny describes how she used Joomla to exceed the expectations of Century Yuassa with no budget. It is a great demostration of how the Joomla CMS can play a significant role inside a large organisation.
