Another exciting release is upon us soon... Joomla 5.3.0 Stable is coming out Apr. 15th, 2025 and it is a substantial one!

Coming in at 264 PRs (Pull Requests) strong, in the top 15 largest releases for Joomla since back as far as Joomla 2.5.x 🚀

A pull request is proposal by a developer to merge their changes from one branch of a repository into another, typically the main branch - this can include a new feature or a bug fix.

We want to thank all of our wonderful core developers, release managers, documentation writers, community contributors,
maintainers, testers and anyone else who helped make this release possible... including to our first time code contributor!

In the last couple of months, some important renewal has happened in the OSM (Open-Source Matters) structure...

OSM is the non-profit that helps Joomla! from an organizational point of view.
(see more on OSM in the next section below)

There have been 3 positions which have seen some updates...

Presidency, Vice-Presidency and Secretary.

Maria Skampoura
 was elected as the new President.

Emmanuel Lemor
was elected as the new Vice-President.

Philip Walton
was elected as the new Secretary.

Additionally, Sigrid Gramlinger was re-elected as Production Department Coordinator, Carlos Camara was re-elected as Operations Department Coordinator. ( We thank them for their renewed and continued support, leadership and contributions ).

We wish them all great success in leading OSM and helping Joomla! for this year of 2025.

Ask OSM Anything!

Did you know that the wonderful Joomla platform is in part made possible by OSM (Open Source Matters)?

Of course, the hard work of the core developers, testers, maintainers, release managers, documenters, etc is what makes Joomla possible release after release but it is OSM that is the organizational, financial and legal backbone.

In order to provide transparency between the community at large and OSM, Crystal (a previous OSM President) started Ask OSM Anything!

Ask OSM Anything is a monthly 1hr event on the 1st of every Month with 2 time slots to try to accommodate as many people as possible from around the world.

~~~~~
Starting with this April 1st (no April's Fools joke here), the time slots are:
Tips & Tricks
Hero image for Tips & Tricks section.
the Notes field
When running and maintaining a Joomla website, you can often find yourself for example looking at multiple modules in the Module list which have the same name and which are impossible to tell apart one from another - without clicking into each of them - except it doesn't have to be that way - thanks to the notes field... this Notes field exists in Modules, but also for Categories, Menus and more...
and best of all, the content that you enter in this notes field is searchable using the Search field  in the backend of Joomla! - makes for a really useful trick ❤️.
This Tips & Tricks is brought to you thanks to Brian Teeman.
