The Northern Virginia Joomla! Users Group has been meeting regularly 2009. We nearly always have a virtual connection so that you can participate even if you are not local. Our meetings cover the gamut of Joomla! related topics.
The Northern Virginia Joomla! Users Group is an educational organization and has been granted nonprofit status under IRS 501(c)(6). Its purposes are to promote increased knowledge of and greater interest in the Joomla! content management system, and to provide a means of communication between people interested in Joomla!. Membership is open to all interested persons, and is NOT limited to people living or working in Northern Virginia or Washington, DC. We almost always have a virtual connection to our meetings, so feel free to join us.
Our group consists of website and code developers, some of whom have been using Joomla! for years and others who are just getting starting with it. So we cover the gamut of topics at our meetings: everything from getting your first Joomla! site up and running to serious topics such as security and customization. Bring your questions and we will try to answer them. We have a really helpful, diverse group of Joomla! devotees, so come out and meet us!
We have met monthly since 2009 at various points in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. In 2010, we organized the first Washington, DC JoomlaDay. Today, we most frequently meet at the Kings Park Library in Burke, Virginia. The JUG has 128 registered members according to its website and 209 members according to Meetup, but only a modest number participate actively. Our current officers are Bruce Scherzinger, Brian "Sully" Sullivan, Gene Crawford, and Dorothy Firsching.
There is always something to be learned and shared, so don't be shy.
