As part of our security policy, we're moving to a more secure sign in process for our Google Apps accounts, called 2-Step Verification.
2-Step Verification adds an extra layer of security by requiring you to enter a verification code (similar to a PIN) after you enter your usual username and password to sign in. You receive the verification code through your mobile phone. Previously this has been a voluntary process and can already be activated on all accounts, but from 22nd June we will be making it a mandatory requirement for using official Joomla! project email accounts.
This will apply to all email accounts managed via our Google Apps system - if you have any email accounts ending in *.joomla.org or *.opensourcematters.org this will apply to you. If you already have 2-Step Verification enabled then you do not need to take any action.
All active email accounts will receive an email shortly containing further guidance and details on how to activate 2 step verification for your email accounts.
