After two and a half years of work, the Joomla Project is pleased to announce that the Joomla Identity Portal has been released!
What is the Joomla Identity Portal?
The Joomla Identity Portal is a place where Joomla volunteers, contributors and users can manage their “identities”, meaning their personal data, profiles and consents, held on the official Joomla.org websites.
In the long run, all the Joomla.org websites (Community, Certification, Forum, JRD, JED, etc.) will be connected to the Identity Portal that will serve as the Single Sign-On (SSO) service as announced in this blog post.
The portal allows you to manage your identity, including personal information, picture, contact information and other data. It will also contain all the consents you gave to Joomla, to collect, store and process your personal data.
The Identity Portal will be the sole place where personal information is stored, while the accounts on the other connected websites will contain only anonymised data.
As required by privacy laws in Europe, USA and other countries, Joomla will record the consents to hold and process personal data of its volunteers and users. Consents will be available for each of the datasets provided as well as for the different processing purposes.
Every time a user accesses a Joomla.org website for the first time, they will be asked to review and eventually grant the consent or consents to process their data.
When all the Joomla.org websites are connected to the Identity Portal, you will need only one account to log in to any of the websites!
The first milestone
As of today, the Volunteers Portal is the first website of the Joomla.org family to be connected to the Identity Portal.
When you try to login or register to the Volunteers Portal, you will be redirected to the Identity Portal to login or create your account.
The Identity Portal is available at identity.joomla.org and runs on Joomla, obviously!
The Compliance Team is working with the Webmasters Team to define the timing for connecting other websites of the joomla.org family to the Identity Portal.
The two teams are working together to complete the new Privacy and Cookie Policies, as well as the Cookie Script that will be applicable to all the Joomla.org family of websites.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Compliance Team at .
The Identity Portal and the SSO have been brought to life by Roland Dalmulder and Sander Potjer, with the support of the Compliance Team for the legal requirements and testing.
