At the Joomla! Extensions Directory (JED) we welcome your suggestions and input. We've asked for your input on our rating system, listing descriptions, review system, and our Terms of Service (TOS). The suggestions coming in have been great and we really appreciate the in-depth discussions that have been taking place. Thank you for taking time out of your day to give us your opinion.
We now want to go one step further to help facilitate these discussions. The JED board on the Joomla! forum has been overwhelmed with a variety of topics, and it is starting to get difficult to sort between support topics and suggestion topics. In order to better receive community input, we would like to ask everyone to utilize the J!People JED Group to make suggestions and have discussions for changes to the way the site and Team operate.
Over the next couple days we will be adding topics that are suggestion-related to our J!People group.
General Suggestion Guidelines:
In general, we really like the approach that the Joomla! 1.6 Whitepaper process has taken and we would like to use a similar process.
When creating new discussion topics, please try to keep to one suggestion per topic. You are more than welcome to group closely related suggestions together. Keeping one suggestion (or group of closely related suggestions) per topic makes it easier for us to keep track of and for everyone else to discuss. Imagine if we had a topic with ten different suggestions, none closely related to each other. The first reply might address suggestion number one and the second might address suggestion two and four. As you can imagine, once this topic gets a couple pages long it becomes hard to digest.
Before submitting your suggestion, we ask that you look over our suggestion tracker which contains a list of all suggestions made. This spreadsheet is publicly viewable and serves as our suggestion and idea tracker. If you find a suggestion closely related to the one you plan on making, we ask that instead of creating a new topic you comment on the available topic. Please use the new suggestion topic template when submitting new suggestions.
We are looking for thorough, well-thought out suggestions and ideas. By ensuring that your suggestions and ideas are formatted with the topic template above, we can keep ideas on track and show how they are advancing. Everyone is encouraged to join the discussion on suggestions made in the suggestion box. The more people involved the better it is.
Once suggestions have been accepted, implemented, or rejected, topics will be marked as such. To keep everything neat and organized we will prefix topic subjects with categorical tags. For example, suggestions related to the TOS will be prefixed with [TOS]; suggestions related to voting will be tagged with [Rating]. We are also logging all suggestions in our suggestion tracker.
That's all for now. We look forward to your suggestions. It is our hope that this new process will allow the JED Editors to better serve your needs.
Note: To maintain consistency, suggestions submitted that do not follow the above template may be format edited.
