JoomlaPack is the 2nd New JED Editors Pick
Written by Steve Burge
A month ago, we announced that sh404SEF had been selected as the first new JED Editors' Pick in quite a while.
I also outlined some of the criteria we use when choosing an extension: its remarkably useful, free to download, well-supported and works on both 1.0 and 1.5. Editors' Picks don't have to check all those boxes, but it helps and our new choice certainly does ... JoomlaPack.
Why does JoomlaPack do?
- It allows Joomla users to regularly backup the database and all the files on their site.
- It allows you to easily move a site, by creating a full backup with an custom installer. This means you can install your site on a new server in the same way you'd install a fresh version of Joomla.
Why was JoomlaPack chosen?
- It meets a vital security need for Joomla site owners ... backing up their sites on a regular basis.
- It has great documentation
- There's very active support on their forums
- New versions are regularly released and the component is under active development

Joomlapack is an absolute godsend. Along with sh404SEF and JCE, we install it on every single website we develop.
There are only a handful of J! extension websites I check regularly for updates, and Joomlapack is one of them... these guys just keep churning out new updates and features - it's great!
Congratulations to the Joomlapack team, and from the team at NF, thank you for the wonderful extension.

Worked first time, quick install and dead easy to use.
It has worked a dream to create a site on domain X for porting to Domain Y - No downtime for clients
This has solved one of my biggest headaches regarding offline development and porting sites between domains.
We are about to embark on a project where many similar sites content wise are to be published and this will make creating the template versions (in the widest sense of template) so simple to install and cut development times dramatically.
The backup concept is excellent too for those that need it.
Winner guys - thanks very much for your efforts.

It's worthwile to donate to these people.
Above under "JoomlaPack is the 2nd New JED Editors Pick" you mention that one of the criteria you use when choosing an extension is "free to download".
So I was very glad to see Moseds Hot Property #232 in the Editors Pick list but.... this extension costs $ 119,--!
