Welcome back Louis

Today we welcome Louis back into the fold as a Development Co-ordinator. Louis returns to start a new team of people working on research projects building on the Joomla! Framework. These will extend the Framework beyond the CMS to new and interesting systems. Louis has spent some time away from Development after being heavily involved in the creation of Joomla! 1.5 and was working as Project Manager in addition to helping create the Communications Team and new sites. I'm sure Louis has a lot to write about his thoughts about the future for Joomla! and how he hopes to help shape that future with his new team.

  6. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

@blaziu, I have lots of hopes and dreams for the Joomla platform and intend to explore them all going into the future. As for right now, my main concern is to bring the framework into a higher level of completeness and decouple it more from the CMS. Beyond that, I intend to get some more applications out there built on the framework and show people that Joomla is not only a world class CMS, but also an incredibly powerful, extensible and fun platform to develop on. 8-)
  7. Welcome Louis to the beloved Joomla baby!

Idea to consider: I like the idea of making a business rules/decision engine/repository central with Joomla reusing basic Joomla standard rules for all other component as needed and Joomla own core features.

Something with first steps like a Joomla rule decision maker central for certain type of decisions like if, then else parameters central for all types of decisions and that could be reused for other Joomla 3pds. This go for many feature that need more complicated decision management tool than just only parameters settings.

Drupal have starting already Drupal Rules Group Project page

Now some 3pds Joomla components starts to using rules embed it into their own modules, plg with lack integrated core consistency. Joomla have some rules already like when to publish an article, Meta Mod, newsletter management etc but this not guarantee reuse and consistency cross plattform.

Rules into Internet marketing? I was participating in theInternet Marketing Conference this week 2 days. I also saw that rules parameters where there completely now for one marketing software (Avail)in the new day release of a Internet marketing solution - Avail eMarketing Suite. Hope you don't see this as pr for them bcs I am not involved at all with that company. But I think that Joomla being the front end to users also must consider these kinds of Internet marketing solutions hopefully Joomla optimized.

"The Avail eMarketing Suite consists of several modules: the Navigation Predictor, Social Search Optimizer, Collaborative Searcher, Landing Page Optimizer, Customer Interaction Broker and Merchandising Module.

The Navigation Predictor generates product recommendations that are based on a visitor's behavior."

Combining decision trees with a decision engine Example Blaze Advisor is the ultimate future but thats a very long journey. Decision tree integrated with rule engine

Hope core dev start looking into this bcs its I believe a important piece of the future Joomla puzzel. :-)
