BMW Racing news from around the world, a photo gallery (which you get your own free gallery upon registration) with over 6,800 photos, BMW Tech Tips, Need for Speed: High Stakes. Submit your own news, tech tip or press release and comment on every single article on the site.Case Study: This site was built in 2000 with good old manual PHP and MySQL scripting. When the site got too big, I had to switch over to a CMS to manage the site.
I found Mambo, and used the 'peeklime' template since 2004.
March 25, 2011, I upgraded to Joomla 1.5 from Joomla 1.0.13 (same template 'peeklime' for 7 years, even through the transition from Mambo to Joomla) and updated my forum and photo gallery to accomodate the update.
The site was originally built as a photo site for my brother and I to post pictures of our BMW's.
I then got involved in Need for Speed: High Stakes in 2001 and converted the site strictly for NFS. Why? I thought to myself...if kids had a specific hobby, or something they could do that they would like, the would stay out of trouble, and hopefully away from drugs.
In late 2001, I received an email from the Press Manager for DuPont Motorsport, with an article about the upcoming race at Sebring International Raceway (Speedvision World Challenge) and got interested in auto racing. Ever since then, the site has been dedicated to BMW's in Auto Racing, BMW Tech Tips and photographing Race Cars.
Today, everything is still in place. Press Releases from multiple BMW Racing Teams, Tech Tips, Need for Speed: High Stakes and a massive photo gallery.
