All of our members are volunteers, they are always ready to act should it be necessary to help any animal and urgently need your help.
Our objectives are:
To take in lost, abandoned and homeless animals.
To take in unwanted animals.
To take care of the feral cats on Mallorca by capturing them, castrating or spaying them, treating them where necessary should they be ill or injured and then, if they are too wild to rehome, setting them free, back into the environment they came from.
Taking on animals from the animal pound in Andratx, so that no more animals are needlessly put down.
To reunite owners with their lost animals.
Teaching, both in schools and through other Media, the advantages and importance of the roles that animals play in our lives, so that pets are treated with care and compassion.
Rehoming animals and making the necessary revisits to make sure that the animals rehomed are well and have a better life than before.
All animals which come into our care are given a complete check-up by a Vet, as well as being tested for the most common diseases. They are then given vaccinations and their own passport.
We also arrange for any sick or injured animals to be cared for, initially by a Vet, including any operations they may need, and then nursed, if necessary, before fostering and re-homing or in the case of feral cats, setting free, as well as castration or spaying, and vaccinating.Case Study: This site was originally built to compliment Feliz Animal's original German website built in Joomla 1.0. They needed the facility to upload the animals coming into their care to showcase them for adoption purposes. They also needed sponsorships, donations, carers and more. Having chosen a template that covered the specific menus they required and the sort of layout they wanted I altered the template, the look of the site, trying to get as close as I could to the look of the original German site. I then translated all of the information on the German site and added the content to the new English site. I used Joomla 1.5 for the new English site because of its compatibility with so many of the extensions I would need to use to make this site function smoothly and make it easily navigable. Once the English site was completed they were so impressed with it I was asked to redo the German site using Joomla 1.5 and the template was to be the same as the new English site. This was a little more complicated for me as I needed to work with the site in the backend in English (only because it is easier - my German is fluent - but it is always easier in your own language especially when there is a constant turnaround of things going up onto the site) and the frontend in German. There were quite a few tweaks to make and files to replace so that things worked the way they should when visiting a German site - mostly on things like the contact form and guest book where the little notes on things when they are not correct etc. come up, they needed to be in the correct language. Thanks to Joomla this was accomplished without too much hassle and works very well.
I volunteered to make these websites for the Animal Shelter and take over the administration for them and am very pleased with the look and ease of use on the sites as are the charity. We have had a lot of very good feedback regarding our website.
