Description: We have a passion for scarves. We think every woman deserves to honor her inner fashionista. Scarves are an easy and affordable way to stay current on trends and look polished. So, we scour the web, the streets and the runways for the newest scarf styles and creative ways to wear them.Case Study: TiemMyScarf.com is a boutique e-commerce site that specializes in scarves. The site had a very simple set of requirements: videos about how to tie a scarf; an ecommerce boutique (for which we used Virtuemart); and a blog.
Here's a run down of core extensions we used and why:
1) JREVIEWS: We used JReviews to create a small video library. We love this tool, and use it as the foundation for most of our sites. It takes a bit of advanced knowledge to get the templates how you want them, but it's an infinitely flexible tool that is ideal for designers (and it works and looks great out-of-the-box even without any advanced styling.)
2) MYBLOG: for our blog section. We use this in all Joomla sites.
3) Virtuemart: Sigh... well, it's working and we're happy with it NOW. But it was a long road to get it to look and work the way we wanted it to. We wanted a very simple, clean implementation for the front end, but needed the power of Virtuemart for the back end (which is why we returned to VM after trying Digistore and Tienda). We ended up disabling the ajax popup due to inconsistent browser issues and changed a LOT of templates.
4) The CSV Import extension for JReviews (found on http://www.reviewsforjoomla.com) - it's very handy for importing lots of content from a spreadsheet.
5) The Google Checkout extension for VM by Open Source Excellence. Very easy -- thanks to them for the good component (just be sure to read the instructions.)
