The Design Brief - A Contemporary Artist
The intended purpose of this site is to be an online portfolio and archive to support Konii when she approaches well known art galleries or art collectors. After trying a cheaper web design company and then finding the results fell well short of her initial expectations, the client decided to increase her website budget to take the next step and have her site custom designed. After reading Konii's website design brief it became obvious that a simple, clean, professional image was sort. After her last website she expressly sort a site that had optimal page load times to deal with her artwork images. With that in mind a site that still had something that was different yet still kept the crisp, whit, the feel of an art galleries wall.
Our mission and vision
While needing to keep the website design clean and minimal, a frontpage slider was envisaged to keep the artists Bio, artists statement and contact page within easy reach of the viewer. The reason for this is to allow any interested parties to glean the required information about the artist without wasting time trying to navigate through the site, page by page. Frontpage Slider As with a well designed resume, the ability to present information quickly and efficiently is the key to capturing an interested parties attention. With the vast amount of submissions to busy art galleries or time starved curators, saving them time in the delivery becomes crucial.
Once the initial information about the artist has been quickly accessed the viewer can navigate through the artists paintings, drawings and recent artwork via a top menu. Again keeping it clean and minimized the galleries are displayed using thumbnails with a flash based lightbox that displays the chosen thumbnail into a high definition image.
Project constraints
After spending $1,000.00 previously on a cheaper website the client only had a $2,000.00 budget.
The entire site is XHTML 1.0 Transitional validated and is built on a Joomla Content Management System.
Project budget
The projected budget was $2,000.00 and to keep further costs down the client was taught to update her own artwork images and edit basic text within her site.
Time Frame
This style of website took a total of 35 hours of chargeable labour time.
