Site Profile

Description: Steam power comes alive at London's award-winning Kew Bridge Steam Museum. Built in the 19th century to supply London with water, the museum is recognised as the most important historic site of the water supply industry in Britain.

The Kew Bridge Steam Museum features the largest collection of Cornish Beam engines in the world and includes the largest working single cylinder Cornish Beam engine and the only working Bull engine in the world.
Case Study: This site was designed as the Joomla 1.5 update to our previous Joomla 1.0 site. During the redesign we took the opportunity to re-organise the menu and content structure of our website to better reflect the structure of the museum exhibits.

A large portion of the Joomla 1.5 site, which is continually being updated and upgraded, is our members and volunteers content - specialised information for those who help run the volunteer-led museum.

Joomla components used within the site include: JaclPlus; bookmarks; docman; jevents; phocagallery; jce; qcontacts and virtuemart.
