This was mainly borne out of the fact that the Author had always wanted to do a "useful" website. Not just one that displayed pictures of his holidays, or one that had weak and watery content...but one that served a specific purpose...like a Fan Website. Having done the Girlschool one and discovered that not only was there an official site (hence the "unofficial" in the title) but there were several others around too, he noticed that there didn't seem to be much around on the internet for the actress Georgia Moffett. Deciding that this was indeed a shame - as she is a very good actress indeed (as demonstrated in programmes like The Bill etc) - the Author decided to make tentative enquiries as to the availablility of suitable site names. On discovering that the very domain name he was wanting was available (georgiamoffett.co.uk) he promptly bought up not only that one, but the .org, .com, .net ones as well!
That done, the Author's task was to design a website. Now having mentioned that the Author is not artistic, he then spent several weeks flailing around madly waiting, nay hoping, for inspiration. That came in a flash (?) and the Mark I site was designed. Thinking that information about this great actress was few and far between, mistakenly designed a website that would only be three or four pages at the most. As per usual, he was wrong and the website soon outgrew itself. Hence the move to something a bit more robust and scaleable....and he hasn't looked back since!
The Author decided from the very outset (in January 2008) that this should be a "proper job" and not just a half thought-out and not very well researched one. So he has invested a considerable amount of time in not just scouring the internet for articles, but investigated the way to make your website popular, user-friendly and to reach the intended audience. This he has done with reasonable success, as today the Georgia Moffett Fan Website stands at around No. 3 in Google Rankings. A considerable (and somewhat pleasing) achievement, not just based on judicious research and design, but also on Georgia's popularity!
August 2008 prompted an audit of content and material. It's very easy to add material without actually knowing how much is there, so an audit was in order. This audit revealed that there are over 350 pages (and growing!) now active within the site, containing articles, interview, galleries and soundbytes etc. A very small re-organisation was in order to make the content easier to find and access.
The decision was taken at this time to create a Georgia Moffett Fan Website Facebook Page, to further enhance popularity of the website (and therefore the Actress); that being just one of the purposes of the the Facebook page. The page exists not only to promote the Website, but to keep the growing legions of fans appraised of latest news, developments, polls etc by using the Fan Update utility. The Facebook page is popular; 550 plus fans at this time...and growing a a steady rate of 15 to 20 new fans per day.
So, for the future - the Author (like so many, he imagines) has aspirations for the site to remain popular (maybe to become official?) and to continue to update the site regularily with relevant material, as he feels that this excellent actress should have a good internet presence.
The Website is (incidentally) Family-Safe and suitable for viewing by persons of all ages.
