Dion Hinchcliffe declared Joomla! the number 1 platform for creating online communities in his ZDNet article Ten leading platforms for creating online communities.

Thanks for noticing, Dion! With Joomla! 1.5, developers have an object-oriented, pattern based API that follows best practices. The new MVC based component objects gives developers a platform for rapid application development and prototyping. Dion is absolutely right - Joomla! 1.5 is more than capable of empowering online communities.

Following Joomla! in this top 10 list is Drupal, PHP-Nuke, Zikula (formerly PostNuke), and Microsoft's Sharepoint. The next five include Dot Net Nuke, Community Server, KickApps, and ClearSpace Community.

    i use to develop my application in a very primitive way until i got some good advise to develop my application on a framework. And I decided to go for Joomla!. Send a few painful months to get use to the object-oriented concept and learn joomla! framework. Guess what, It's all worth it. I am loving it. Now I can achieve more work in much shorter time period. you are definately No. 1 for me. Thank you Joomla!

    I'm learning Joomla, it's more complex than wordpress blog scripts. Just download and installed to check the features. I think Joomla is the best choice to build a content site, it's better than wordpress. Drupal also a good CMS, but i think joomla better than Drupal, Drupal looks like a blog system, joomla have more extensions can be found. Support Joomla!
