If you help write documentation, answer questions in the forums, report, patch or test bugs, share GPL-compliant extensions on the Joomla! Extension Directory, write core code, create translation files, run a Joomla! User Group, organize Joomla! Day events or participate as an active member in a Joomla! Working Group, then you are an important part of making Joomla! available to the world.

Thanks to each of you who have contributed and helped make Joomla! possible. Special thanks to those of you who made that extra commitment to serve on the Joomla! Core Team or Open Source Matters Board over the years. Respect to all contributors and Happy Birthday to Joomla!

    I am still using 1.0. Until the "I got hacked" posts slow down I dont see any reason to go to 1.5

    Your comment about not using modules that require legacy mode got me thinking...

    What if the extensions gallery had a parameter to hide all of the packages that are not 1.5 native. How many would be left?

    in general I am not a friend of updating software which meets my requirements just to be up to date. For example I still work with Office 97 (sorry). One year ago we relaunched our website. The old site was built with NetObjects Fusion V7.5. The relaunch was built with Joomla 1.5.2.

    A couple of weeks ago our site was hacked completely (deleted on the server). Fortunately I had a backup to restore the site and database quickly. I immediately updated to Joomla 1.5.8.

    It would have been a good idea to have done this earlier. Since this mishap I frequently take a look at joomla.org. You live and learn :-)

    Update or not is primarily a question of necessity.

    There are 2013 1.5 native extensions today.

    Is there a step by step manual when upgrading a 1.5.6 version of Joomla to 1.5.8 because I am having trouble upgrading or figuring out how to. Another issue is hosting Joomla 1.5 on a Debian Virtual Server, if anyone has any feedback here, I am all ears.:-)

    Same here, had little problem while upgrading but finally i got figured, new 1.5.8 version works great. great job and you guys are awesome!!!!

    8-) BRAVO to the Joomla Team ! I love 1.5.11
    You guys rock! Every other CMS pales in comparison. I have been using Joomla and building websites on this incredible platform and when it comes to mission critical. Joomla saves the day. I appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the development. I can't praise Joomla enough. I have been using Joomla on shared and VPS server environments and have had not one problem. Please keep up the 5 of 5 star work.
