JED gets more power.

In an effort to mitigate the recent JED downtime (over the last few days) we've just completed a migration of this site to a new server. The new server has faster hard drives, as well as a higher performance processor (Quad Core).

We realize how important the JED is to the community, and have worked as hard and as fast as we could to identify and take action addressing the causes. In addition to the hardware upgrade, we also discovered what appeared to be a DDOS attack that was also contributing to the issues. Many of the IP's identified and blocked were most likely ordinary computers, their owners unaware they were being used to this end.

In any case, thanks for your patience, and for now we hope things will return back to normal. Special thanks to Ben and Chris from Rochen who have both worked around the clock, staying up late to sort some of these things out.

  1. Thanks, Brad! As always, top notch work.
  2. We cannot thank Rochen enough for keeping our sites running smoothly. It is an incredible amount of work to keep an infrastructure up when it is being constantly abused like the joomla.org sites are. Thanks again for the unflinching support.
  3. Rock on! I noticed the JED was down the other night and I started to panic there for a second... "WHAT DO I DO NOW?!?!?!" :-D

    Keep up the awesome!
  4. It is appreciated! Thank you.
  5. Good stuff and thanks to all the people at Rochen that keep the engines running for us :)
  6. I thought it was my proxy. Great Work, actually the JED is one of the great sites of Joomla.org. Thanks!!
  7. Thank you very much Brad!
  8. Thanks, Rochen!

This is why we host our sites with Rochen! Phenomenal work.
  9. Thanks to all the Rochstars!
  10. Thanks Brad and the whole Rochen team for the hard work!
  11. Any word on when the site will be back up?
  12. Good, JED is probably the most important part of the Joomla! world, as well as the forum :)
  13. thanks.

  15. Thanks again folks. You`r the best!!
  16. Hi Brad!

Since a week or so, I'm unable to access the JED site.
Probably my ISP ips were inside the problematic ips range.

At this moment the ip that I'm using is inside the 201.52.0.0/16 range.

If you guys could revise the blocking list it would be marvelous.

    If not, that is ok.
I understand the headache related to server attacks and the taken measure, I would do the same for the sake of the majority.
Unfortunately the good ones have to pay for what the cr*p ones do.

For those ones with the same problem that I'm having the work around is to access the JED site using an free online proxy. Just do a search on Google for "free online proxy"

    Regards,
    Digiwise
  17. I want to say thanks too, you guys make life ez. Keep up the great work.
  18. When choosing my first Linux host, having migrated over from the asp.net world, I, too, went with Rochen simply because they host the Joomla mothership. I have never regretted it.

I have only submitted one service ticket and that was to upgrade my account. ;)

Glad to see the JED back online and running fine. Are the updates/publishing new components going to speed up? ;)
  19. Thank you so much for the help. Our ISP had their Ips banned. So i have used a free online proxy. :'(After so many days of not being able to access JED, am now able to use the service.:-)
  20. Sorry to be a bother. I have been unable to view extensions.joomla.org for several weeks on either of my computers. It states Network Timeout. Can someone please help? Thank you.
  21. I'd love to see the search feature get improved. More specifically, results that have your keyword in the title should show up first. For example, I was looking for 'docman' the other day and the actual docman extension was on the third page! I know the JED isn't google, but some basic ordering by relevance would be nice :-)
  22. Suggestion
Please include Compulsory CHANGELOG link in RECENTLY UPDATED PAGE OF JED.

This way we will come to know changes made by Developer.

    Thanks
  23. New hardware is good. But I guess people in JED are so busy!
Read this and you will see what I mean How to become a successful developer in less than 5 minutes. 8-)
  24. i want to say thanks too, you guys make life ez. Keep up the great work. :-)
